The High Mac.Robertson Girls' High School (also known simply as Mac.Rob or MGHS) is an academically selective, public high school for girls, located in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Admission Mac.Rob, which is operated by the Department of Education Victoria, is through a competitive academic examination. It is unique in its capacity as the provider in the state of girls in the years 9-12. The equivalent for school children is his brother, Melbourne High School.
In 2001, The Sun-Herald ranked Mac.Robertson High School Girls sixth in the top ten girls' schools in Australia, depending on the number of students listed in Who's Who in Australia (a listing of notable Australians). [A]
History
Mac.Robertson Girls' High School has its origins in the continuation of Melbourne School, the first government school in the state funded Victoria, established in 1905 in Spring Street, Melbourne. Melbourne High School was a coeducational school, but the second primary school, Mr. Claude Searby, which believes that children are better studied in a single sex. And so in 1927 the boys moved to its current home in Forrest Hill, South Yarra, Victoria, Melbourne, and became Melbourne Boys High School.
The girls remained in the Spring Street building in ruins until it was condemned in 1930. The girls moved to the Government House. They were moved back to King Street in 1933. In 1934 Victoria celebrated its centenary. Macpherson Robertson made a donation of 100,000 pounds, 40,000 of which would be spent on the construction of what was to become Mac.Robertson High Girls' School in the north-east of the corner of Albert Park Reserve. The building won the confidence of a national ranking in 1987.
The school celebrates its centenary year in 2005 with Melbourne High School with a set together. Mac.Rob also celebrated by inviting Steve Bracks (the 44th prime minister of Victoria) to witness the resumption of the clock tower of the school (what a coincidence would not start when the time came.)
The girls of today Mac.Robertson 'High School continues and remains a tradition of high academic achievement. Each year the school VCE results are among the highest in the state, surpassing the VCE results statewide for seven years (2002-2008 inclusive). Despite the impressive performance of the school for the year 2006, the highest in its long history, the class of 2007 were able to finish it off with a median ENTER of 96.8 compared with 96.5 the previous year the average score of study in all subjects in school was once again 39.
Uniform
The High Mac.Robertson Girls' school uniform is a uniform for summer and winter. The uniform Summer term is used in one to four, which is a line dress with red jacket charcoal and green bridge red trim and emblem, optional for 9 and 10, the green bridge optional for Year 11 and 12, white knee socks and black leather or t-bars or lace windows.
The uniform Winter consists of a green kilt and red tie, long sleeved shirt, black socks to the knees, optional red jumper in years 9 and 10, the green bridge optional for Year 11 and 12, dark gray blazer with red and green scarf and emblem of the school setting, optional, optional, and a black umbrella school leather t-bar locks or windows. Hair accessories must be in the school colors. No makeup is allowed. Hair must be in a haircut and be clean in a natural tone.
