Boho Sun
Boho Sun

Beach Girl Icon # 1: Michelle Phillips
With the face of an angel, this dream of quintessential California-girl, a native of Long Beach, was the face of the sixties. Along with his bandmates, she was the beautiful mother, with the support of Cass glass songbird, bandleader husband John and sad tenor Denny. Today at 65 she is the only survivor of the folk band of the 60 sense of The Mamas & the Papas. Michelle Phillips was the original baby Boho, the first real flower-child. Her long blonde hair kissed by the sun made it seem as if he had just left the beach or fell off the bed, her green eyes so distinctive and pervasive that it avoided the heavy eyeliner and the other moments, Dusty used to highlight. No matter if she could have spent the entire night, somehow Michelle always seemed sunny, fresh and natural – so evanescent beauty that inspired the then ex-husband, Juan yearn for it in songs he wrote for her as' Go Where Want to Go "and" I saw her again "
.
She practically invented the wretched seaside chic casual and relaxed with loose striped shirts, knitted ponchos, knee-high boots and tunics and caftans gauzey more of jeans. Not much has changed in the way girls dress today beach – Sienna and Lindsay take note.
Her street style then was more jumble sale of Rodeo Drive, but today remains as fresh and crisp as linen pleated, and glamorous and impressive as a grandmother who could never be. Penning some of the lyrics of California Dreamin 'and other songs by The Mamas & the Papas, Michelle has stayed away from rags, but still retains the smoothness and girlishness so evocative of the swinging 60s era.
About the Author
Kiki is the eternal beachgirl, and takes her inspiration from the awesome elegance and pristine simplicity of beaches and waves everywhere. She muses on islands, oceans, beaches, shells, flowers, tropical living, travel, design and style, swimming, surfing, her beloved Hawaii nei, the spirit of aloha, iconic symbols and of course the fleeting ‘endless summer’. Most importantly, she frets over what to wear at the beach!
