"Snuggie" cultural phenomenon

In late 2008 and early 2009 the "Snuggie" brand of blankets manga became a pop culture phenomenon, sometimes humorously described as a "cult." The Snuggie has become an icon of camp.

The product became famous after a direct response ad that promotes the product was air, resulting in a mockery of the commercial product and comedians like Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, and Tim Burton, and parodies website and Lacie and Olivia. She was featured on television shows like Today, where actors and the crew went Snuggie blankets for a segment that was described as looking like a gospel choir. The product was first marketed as Blanket Freedom.
