Swinging sixties - British Fashion Designers

As the sixties is famous worldwide for many things British, among them the way I would tell her story and mention some of the biggest names in British fashion. In the early 60's, skirts to the knee, but steadily became shorter and shorter until the mini-skirt came in 1965. At the end of the decade had soared well above the top population, making the transition to middle inevitable.

Many of the radical changes in fashion developed in the streets of London with such talented designers as Mary Quant (known for launching the mini skirt) and Barbara Hulanicki (the founder of the legendary boutique Biba). After design of Mary Quant introduced the miniskirt in 1964, fashion the 1960 forever changed. The miniskirt was eventually to be used by almost all young elegant women in the Western world.

The main outlets for these young fashion designers new small boutiques, selling equipment that were not exactly "exceptional measures" but were made in small quantities in a limited range of sizes and colors. However, not all designers took well the new style and humor.

The form Basic and style of the time was simple, clean cut, clean, and youth. Synthetic fabrics were very widely used in the sixties. Dye was taken easily and well, resulting in colors that were clear and bright, largely reflecting the mood of the time. Hats and suffered a great decline and at the end of the decade they were relegated to special occasions only. Lower kitten heels were a substitute very high heels. toes gave way to pointed toes chisel-shaped foot in 1961 and an almond toe in 1963. Flat boots also became popular with very short dresses in 1965 and eventually rose up the leg and came to the knee.

The principal change in menswear in the 60's was on the weight of the fabric used. The choice of materials and manufacturing method produced a suit that, because it was lighter in weight, had a completely different look, with a line that was closer to the natural shape of the body, causing men to look at its most critical. The spread of jeans served to accelerate a radical change in the male wardrobe. Young men increased her hair up to their necks and adds a touch of color, and even floral motifs, with their shirts.

The polo neck never succeeded in replacing the tie, but approval of the worker rough corduroy jacket. As the clothes away from light colors, tones, menswear was bright and colorful. Ties are included leaflets and wide ties and suspenders pants boots leather jackets and even neck. The bonds were taking up to five inches wide, with crazy prints, stripes and patterns. Casual clothing consisted button checked shirts with trousers comfortable.

The hippie movement of late also exerted a strong influence on women's clothing styles, including bell jeans, tie-dye and batik fabrics and paisley prints.

In the first half of 1960's, the modernists of London known as the Mods were the development and definition of popular fashion for young Britons, while trends for both sexes changed more frequently than ever before in the history of fashion and will continue throughout the decade. The leaders of 1960's style were the British. The Mods were characterized by their choice of different style to the 1950 and revealed new trends that would be imitated by many youths. As the level of the social middle class known Mods such as controlled entrances and exits of fashion in London, 1960 fashion set the mode for the rest of the century, and which are marketed mainly to young people. Modernist formed their own way of life to create television programs and magazines that are focused directly on the lifestyles of the Mods.

British bands rock like The Who, The Small Faces and The Kinks emerged from the mod subculture. The mods were known to the Modern Jazz listening and showing off their new styles in local cafes. Worked at the lower end of the workforce, usually nine to five jobs, allowing time for clothing, music and nightclubs. It was not until 1964, when Modernists were actually recognized by the public that women really were accepted in the group. The girls had short haircuts, clean and often dressed Mods styles similar to male. Mods lifestyle and musical tastes were exactly the opposite of his rival group known as the.

The rockers like 1950's rock and roll, wore black leather jackets, greased pompadour hairstyles and headed bikes. The appearance of the Mods was classy, but imitating the dress and hairstyles of the designers High fashion in France and Italy, choose tailored suits, which were topped by anoraks who became his trademark. They rode on a motorcycle, generally or Lambretta scooter. Mods dress style was often called the aspect of Ghent. Shirts were slim, with a collar button must be accompanied by Slim tight jeans. Levi's were the only type of jeans worn by the modernists. flares bellbottoms and opened the way to the hippie phase introduced in the 1960's. Variations Polyester is used in conjunction with acrylics.

Carnaby Street and Kings Road Chelsea were the virtual fashion. In 1966, the space age was gradually replaced by the Edwardian style, with men dressed in velvet double-breasted suits or striped patterns, brocade vests, shirts with ruffled neck, and hair worn below of the clavicle.

The Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones sums up this "dandy" look. The women were inspired by the top models of the day which included Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, Colleen Corby, Penelope Tree and Veruschka. Mini velvet dresses with lace collars and cuffs, matching, dressed wide tent and culottes had neglected the geometric change.

False eyelashes were in vogue, like the pale lipstick. Hemlines continued to rise, In 1968, he was well above mid-thigh. These were known as "micro-minis." It was then that the "dressed as an angel" made its appearance in the fashion scene. A micro-mini dress with a flared skirt and the horn long and wide sleeves, which are normally used to mean printed, and was often made of lace crochet velvet, chiffon or cotton, often with a psychedelic pattern.

The cowl neck "dress monk" was another inspired alternatives religion, the fireplace may be raised to be worn on the head. For evening, chiffon dresses little baby-doll with spaghetti straps, "was the mode and the" dress Cocktail ", which was a fitting sleeve, usually covered with lace combined with long sleeves. feather boas were used on occasion.

In 1968, the Search androgynous hippie era in style. Both men and women wore trousers frayed bell-bottom jeans, tie-dyed shirts, workshirts, and headbands. The flip-flops also part of the hippie look for both men and women. Women often go barefoot, and some were even without a bra.

fringed leather vests money flowing caftans, peasant blouses Mexico, gypsy-style skirts, scarves, and bracelets were also used by adolescent girls and young women. India prints, batik and paisley fabrics preferred. For more conservative women, were the "rest" or "housewife" pajamas. These consisted of a tunic over floor-length culottes, and were usually made of polyester or gauze.

Another popular look for women and girls that lasted well into the 1970's was the mini-skirt worn with a French top polo-neck, square-toed boots and beret, Newsboy Cap. maxi coats long, often with a belt and wrapped in sheepskin, appeared at the end of the decade. Animal prints were also popular for women in the fall and winter 1969. Women's shirts were often transparent sleeves. Psychedelic prints, hemp, and the appearance of "Woodstock" came about this generation.

End of 1960 was a style categories of people who promotes sexual liberation and favored a policy that reflects the type of "peace, love and freedom. "Ponchos, moccasins, love beads, peace signs, medallion necklaces, chain belt, polka dots, printed fabrics, and long, inflated" bubble " sleeves were additional trends in late 1960.

New materials other than fabric (such as polyester and PVC) became more popular.

Since 1967, the Mod culture began to embrace reggae and roots of class work. The new urban style known as Skinhead born.
