Death of the Metrosexual: Men's Fashion Goes Large
The revolution in men's fashion has been gaining pace in recent years. First, the emergence of the world "metrosexual" - is used to refer to men of fashion who was responsible for dressing well and looking good - has been the growing awareness more masculine style to the forefront. However, in the last couple of years, so many men have started aa interested in fashion and clothing that singling out certain males as "metrosexual" appears to have little meaning: the whole world in it.
Much of the increase in awareness of men's fashion has to do with the emergence of popular style icons as household names. fashion trends for men have often been influenced by cultural figures: from clothes distinctive of Mick Jagger and David Bowie to the original haircuts of anyone from The Beatles to Kevin Keegan. But with the brilliant success of David Beckham as a well-dressed celebrity in the center of attention throughout the 1990s, became a "style" to be smarter - and men seemed to start taking acute care their clothes, hair and general appearance.
While other famous sportsmen - as Amir Khan and Kevin Pietersen - have been making inroads in the fashion industry, the musicians who are leading a new generation of male style icons today. Pete Doherty's relationship with Kate Moss, each chapter of which has been meticulously listed in the press, instantly as provided in the consciousness of teachers around the world, making him an instant idol of men keen to follow the rate of rise and fashion trends to come.
Since then, Dandy-esque ways of a number of men in public opinion have become a source of inspiration for fashion-conscious in Britain: from Russell Brand to David Tennant, of men fashion trends have been immortalized on television, cinema and photography. The result has been that investment in retail stores has increased male considerably, with the British fashion company Topman which recently opened a new flagship store in Cardiff - the largest local store outside London.
Moreover, the recent recovery in the shares of the fashionable men had an equally influential effect on teenagers, as well as young professionals and those under 40 years. Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, for example, is often as an exemplary model of men's fashion, while younger bands like the Arctic Monkeys The Klaxons and The View are often praised for its irreverent attitude to clothing and hairstyles.
Older men should not feel left out either - after all, the likes of Jagger and Bowie still hold sway in a lottery fashion. And while some fans of the older fashion can not successfully sport the trendy offerings of Beckham and Doherty, there's still plenty of fashion inspiration comes from the likes of José Mourinho and George Clooney. After all, fashion is for life, not only for twenty-something!
