Put a little entertainment in the fashion district
The urban renaissance taking place in downtown Los Angeles in recent years has brought components new residential and retail to the city of la fashion district.
Now, the entertainment aspect is heating up as new concert and Entertainment are emerging around the area.
It all started with the success of complex billionaire developer Philip Anschutz Entertainment Live, located next to the Staples Center where the Lakers and Clippers basketball teams play, just a few blocks from the fashion district.
But now the historic Orpheum Theatre is becoming a big concert and indicate that it is not only popular with the locals, but has been used by several television programs and a series of announcements at national.
The theater, at 842 S. Broadway between Eighth and Ninth streets has been revitalized. Some major acts renowned performances have attracted crowds of people, and the place was when it opened in 1926 during the heyday of vaudeville. In the 1930's, the Orpheum was host to several entertainment celebrities, burlesque queen Sally Rand to a young Judy Garland, who performed under his real name, Frances Gumm.
To develop the concerts of the theater, the owner Steve Needleman of Fashion Anjac Properties has partnered with the show promoters Goldenvoice and Bill Silva, a subsidiary of Anschutz Entertainment Group, so that acts as "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks, Alanis Morissette, Jackson Browne, Lyle Lovett, Crowded House and Squeeze. The Who, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, performed there during the E3 convention held recently in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The addition of the Orpheum as a concert hall with a capacity of about 2,000 people has the potential to create new synergies between the place and the local fashion industry, Needleman said.
The theater has hosted the annual Los Angeles Fashion Awards, and as fashion shows for several fashion colleges and other industry events.
Concert tickets may offer promotional opportunities for owners showroom in the area who regularly give away prizes to buyers in the market. Tie-ins between the music industry and fashion can be so Needleman observed. "It would be nice to get the industry involved and some package," he said. "Right now, I do very little self-promotion."

The Orpheum, as many of the great old theaters on Broadway, was closed to the public until Needleman spent $ 3.5 million to renovate the building Fine art and open the jewel of a theater in 2001. The recovery Orpheum entrepreneur Cedd Moses was in 2005 opening the Broadway Bar next door. It is a meeting place of the hip that has the feel of a supper club 1940's. Moses was capitalizing on the success of its Golden Gopher bar, another popular place at night it opened in 2004 at Eighth and Olive streets in downtown area summary. Little to add to the mix of entertainment in the center are several components Anschutz over LA Live, which now includes the Nokia Theatre. A new 54-story hotel is going up near the complex LA Live, and more restaurants, shops and lofts artists.
A Ralphs grocery store that opened last year is making the neighborhood a better place and maintain more pedestrians on the sidewalks after the sun sets.
