Clothing - the stuff from which fashions are created

As I was growing up, most of my neighborhood children played with paper dolls, and always play mix and match with different outfits that came with the dolls. However, as a child, I was never satisfied with scanty costumes that were provided, so my sister more and I loved the design of new clothes for our dolls, and spent many hours to do so.

With a love of fashion, even then, I played mix and match with my own clothes. We were poor, but that did not stop me. After finishing my school, I went straight to the closet to see what kind clothing that could bring to school the next day, or at dress-up for church on Sunday.

With my family being a religious sort, I hasten to add, was not in vain. But I liked to dress up. Without knowing it, even then, I was studying fashion, although nobody calls it that. And seeing as those who came to school handmade clothes tease homemade clothing, I've never sewn a long time, except what was required to do in my home economics class. A member of the family who did most of the sewing was mom.

Although, never my love for beautiful clothes went, and as I grew, I found the clothes in stores often requires major changes to fit my petite frame well. When time and funds allowed, I bought on my lunch hour. One day I spent in a store attending small sizes and I was glad to find a couple of dresses that I liked. However, the prices were outrageous! I could not afford to buy there very often. At that time, I was a single mother raising two children and feeding growing, and even when the store had sales, yet could not afford dresses I liked.

Still, the petite clothes sizing clothes better than any other stores, however, again, I still had much to do hems. After a while, simply made no sense. I thought, why pay high prices for clothes that never fit? So I went to buy a machine Singer portable sewing, a yard of cloth, a simple pattern, and made my first dress that weekend, and have been engaged in designing and sewing since.

With that introduction to the world of fashion, since then I have received many compliments on my creations. After moving to California, I decided to find a manufacturing job at the end the fashion industry. I hit the ground in search of entry level job with a manufacturer, or a position to help a fashion designer. No luck. Undeterred, I enrolled in classes at San Francisco School of Fashion Design. One day, while listening to a seminar leader to explain how to break in manufacturing, it occurred to me a better idea: Why not create my own line?

Find a yard of fine cloth, even before an idea or design is drawn or thought about, and creating a garment that is well made, wearable and elegant, it is my greatest pleasure. Then mix and match fabrics and buttons, and the combination of colors and trims and linings to create something unique, as it is a pleasure.

The girl dreaming in the closet, trying this combination and after one, is still very much alive. Only now the sky is the limit, design quality rather than price. Part of what got me into the business of fashion, First are prohibitively expensive clothes, and I've never forgotten. I make a point of designing in a way which transcends fashions and trends. Because trends come and go, elegance is timeless.

I see clothes as a way to make a creative fashion statement and feel strongly that to be elegant, a woman should dress your best at all times. Whether it is a casual affair or a black tie event, each time should be given equal importance. The time that very little attention to what they put into it be the same when we encounter someone we have not seen for a long time and the bad impression that may be embarrassing, even devastating! After all, clothing is exactly what makes fashion. So, what fashion statement you doing?
