Old-fashioned recipes for parties of Autumn Watch game or just because you enjoy it!
Fall is always a time of Halloween, harvest, or just parts of autumn. It is also a time when family and friends gather to watch their favorite sports teams, both college and professional. Eating is always much of these gatherings and parties. Here are some recipes to make your meeting or party. Recipes include, Orange Punch, Pineapple Orange and Fruit Salad Soft homemade pretzels. Whether you choose a recipe or all three, you're sure to be a success!
ORANGE PUNCH
An old recipe southern Indiana.
2 tall cans of Hi-C orange drink
1 package of orange Kool-Aid
1 bottle (2-liter) 7-up soda
1 fresh orange
Prepare Kool-Aid for instructions package. Chill all ingredients. Place all ingredients except orange, a large Punch Bowl. Cut the ends of the orange, sliced into thin rings and float on the surface the punch.
ORANGE PINEAPPLE FRUIT SALAD
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 can (14 ounces) condensed milk
1 small box frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 cans of pineapple in syrup, drained
2 small cans mandarin oranges, drained
1 / 2 cup pecans or walnuts
With an electric mixer beat cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk together until combined. Fold in the whipped cream. Gently fold in pineapple chunks, oranges and nuts. Chill before serving.
HOMEMADE SOFT pretzels
2 packages active dry yeast
2 cups warm water
5 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
1 1 / 4 cups enriched cornmeal
2 eggs
1 / 3 cup sugar
2 teaspoon salt
Coarse salt, optional for garnish
FILLING:
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
Dissolve yeast in 2 cups water in a large mixing bowl. Add 5 cups flour, cornmeal, eggs, sugar and salt. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes, stirring in enough remaining flour to make stiff dough.
It forms dough into a ball and place in an oiled large bowl. Turn once to coat surface of dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 1 / 2 hours or until twice its size. Punch dough down. Divide dough in half on a lightly floured surface, shape each half into a ball. Flatten a ball and cut into 16 pieces. Roll each wedge to form a 18-inch long rope to form a pretzel shape. Place on lightly greased oven sheet. Repeat with the second ball of dough.
Combine ingredients and brush polished on the top of the pretzels. Sprinkle with salt, if desired. We will grow in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes or until doubled size. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 13 minutes or until browned.
