Your song of jaava Mar Fashion has become popular. But there was no situation in the real sense. It's a song so easier or harder to write than a series situations?
It is both in different ways. I gave them several options for the mukhda. Salim and I worked hard on something that would have its own identity and get the attention of public because the sequence would be so strong that nobody would be visually really interested in the song playing in the background. And we succeeded.
I think you were a model of yourself in college. Is Madhur Bhandarkar, who led the fashion, knows about this?
No. In addition to walking the ramp, who had choreographed some shows even at my university. That was another of my interests. But I could not grow there.
But for someone who does not have any contacts or mentors within the industry have made good progress.
I guess I was lucky, though I have a long way to go. Choreographer Rajiv Goswami and I have been companions for children and jam and make music together. I wrote all the songs except mere yaar Mujhe together in their debut album and Salim-Sulaiman fixed it. That's how I know the duo and called me to Ashayein in Iqbal. Apart from his films and fashion Ke Main Kulii Chain Kulii I worked with them in Karo and maro, the song SetMax IPL for the channel, the first song you eh Dil liya IPL, the final song of the Voice of India and the title track from the album Shrradha Pandit Teri Heer. I also wrote the title track of RAFO Chakka - Fun On The Run and about 20 songs for the Hindi dubbed version of high school musical and high school musical 2.
What are your films to come?
I am writing to Rensil Karan Johar film directed by D'Silva stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor and all the songs for Kootchie Kootchie Hota Hai directed by Tarun Mansukhani. I'm doing Ken Ghosh's film with Shahid Kapoor, a song Mumbai Chakachak which will likely be formed by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Teen Patti with Amitabh Bachchan, directed by Leena Yadav, the video made by Sony for the Indian finalists Idol also called Hindi songs for Walt Disney Productions Camp Rock.
How do you feel about excessive use of Punjabi and English in the songs of today?
I would like to continue this trend for the heck of it. Look Bakshisaab Anand and Punjabi used Gulzarsaab in a very elegant - I would like to emulate. I want to make a mark with good songs like Ashayein, still loved. Today there are a lot of hit songs, but few that really make a mark or have a shelf life. Genuine high jaate Hain Gaan challenges and I would not want to jeopardize that because it gives me 101 percent with each song.
