Despite the popular (and quite legitimate) concern that it is certainly possible write for TV if you are based in New York instead of Los Angeles. Some security software and fire personnel there, of course, as Law & Order many talk shows and soaps (see partial list below). And with an agent online in Los Angeles and some timely trips to the coast, assignments drama of one hour for LA-based shows may also occur independent level. This would be quite difficult, but this is Hollywood, so nothing is impossible, right? Yes, ultimately, you want to live here in Los Angeles to take advantage of most of the work that is here. But you do not live here to be hired. Just answer the right people who do.

If not already done so, a good way to get in the mix network while at New York City is joining an organization like the Guild of East producers or NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) if you have enough credits (Or partner if they do), or the IRTS (International Radio and Television Society Foundation), which has outstanding executives of educational seminars and networking with East and West Coast throughout the year.

With this list in hand, a few (well, many) is clicked IMDb.com let you know what the production companies run these shows and the names of the showrunners, so you'll get an idea of what names to see if when you see the industry workshops, panels and other events. And if you get to meet him, while most do not lead to a specification, all will tell you that the top 3-5 agents / agencies that are open to take the scripts. And that will help you focus your efforts on the representative front, too.

The rules from there are the same as they are here. It has excellent specifications 2-3 present sample scripts. You can not send a spec to show real, so you want options to enter the door on many productions. Second, do not set their sights on getting away or anything personal. I want start as a staff writer, but an independent allocation is a great (and a coveted one - are competitive and often favors). And the writer's assistant, as abused and unloved as this is poor schlub is often the first to complete a process opened by security personnel.

Once again, it looks like a lot working and waiting to reach the pot of gold in Hollywood, right? Of course it is! But certainly worth it if you can do in the handful of positions in programs Writing in the East or here in Los Angeles. People fail to do so each year. I hope you will too.
