What should I wear to a fashion show?

I know you usually need to use the designer, but this is a show of student designs so you still have not started their own line. It is, however, even apart from the Fashion Week: New York. HELP!

I suggest a nice simple dress. One with an impression would be great if you can find a nice impression, otherwise a simple black (WRAP is always good) dress. Avoid looking summer dress. Wear a cardigan, if you are unsure (spaghetti straps in general, should be covered.) Wear shoes that are appropriate (no sandals, unless more formal). This will be elegant and sophisticated without trying too hard, and definitely will be appropriate for the occasion (an inelegant).
