The main Fashion: Up Close and Personal With Ritu Beri
Ritu Beri, a graduate of India's National Institute of Fashion Technology, a subsidiary of New York FIT is one of the most important fashion designers in India. A disciple of the master embroiderer Francois Lesage, Ritu launched her own fashion brand in India for 16 years rave reviews have not stopped since. Since then, he has dressed stars like Rani Mukherjee Hindi cinema and Preity Zinta, and also includes former President Bill Clinton and Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and Andie McDowell in their customer list. After successful exhibitions in Beijing, Morocco, New York and Washington, was first designer Ritu India to showcase its collection of luxury in Paris in 1998. Considered one of the 50 most important people in India, Ritu Beri is the down to earth, very approachable and a pleasure can chat. Ritu took some time to chat with women Nirvana this summer. Here are some of his thoughts.
How do you think that his style differs from other designers from India and abroad?
My designs represent my journey as a human being, of all the influences I've had in my life, and most importantly, India and its cultural heritage. After having it on my clothes.
How the design has changed for you since I started?
The fashion industry of India has undergone a tremendous metamorphosis. The fashion was just a diversion for a small elite. At first, fashion was more to do with the ritual of dressing, as a wedding (or) the festival. But now it's more about being well dressed all the time.
Where to go for inspiration?
I believe that every new day brings new ideas, aspirations and dreams. I was inspired by the life and the things / people around me, and like any other art form, it requires (a large) amount of research ... and is a constant conquest to achieve something beyond the ordinary.
Which of your designs that are immensely proud of?
I am proud all my designs. But my first line, they will present at my graduation, called "The Maharanis of India" has been my favorite collection to time, for sentimental reasons. Another collection that is very close to my heart is the one presented at the Buddha Bar in Paris. But my favorite is my latest collection I presented at the Lido in Paris.
How did you get into design?
I come from a father's defense fund [Ritu was in the] army India. Army parties are very formal, structured and British in their approach to dressing. The environment invites you to be fastidious about his appearance. My mother is beautiful and dressed dazzling. I remember as a child, she lit up the night with the army not only their appearance, but also (with) its intrinsic style. I always loved to watch her dressing. Its pastel gauze floated around, and its (elegant) pearls and diamonds were their brands. My father is an immaculate dresser and has a great sense of color. With examples as well, I had to be influenced, and ended up wanting to dress like that at all.
How designers in India have risen in the international fashion?
Indian designers are at an early stage in the international market is concerned. The fashion design industry in India is only two decades old, (and) we have accomplished much in so little time. Our designers are constantly showing different fashion capitals of the world, but for a designer to be taken seriously in the international market, he / she must be consistent in the exhibition of the collection, and being around each station.
Who are their favorite celebrity clients?
Rekha (Bollywood actress) is my favorite celebrities on the client is a true style icon.
What advice would you give to upcoming designers?
My only advice would be: Make the best use of all opportunities that come your way and learn everything you can. But always be original.
What role do carry accessories in the creation of fashion?
Ritu Beri Design carries a lot of accessories. I think that fashion is not limited to clothing. An insight into the beauty, hair, shoes and accessories. Accessories add that extra dash of confidence which is reflected in the personality and I think it is more important than a beautiful machine.
His work has moved from high fashion to interior design and lifestyle. What are your plans future?
After being in the fashion industry for over 16 years and have displayed my collection in almost all major fashion capitals of the world, I take fashion beyond the clothes and accessories in everyday life. "Firefly" was my first step in that direction, and I'm working on some things, (That) I will be sharing with you soon.
What advice would you give to women Nirvana, anyone living outside India, but with the eclectic tastes chic as haute couture range?
I believe that one should always dress to feel. The team should make you feel comfortable and reflect your personality. A style is very important. The dress of the season is intimate, personal and real.
