There is a huge buzz around our nation, and perhaps worldwide, asking the question, what Michelle Obama will lead the inauguration? It is a wonderful piece of a historic event - the role he will play FASHION - and reason. The news for weeks on end playing the past have been looking again last of the first lady and style and colors of their joint takeover. And, of course, in this case, two girls to "Ooh and ahh" over too. What a day to be a dress maker!
For now, if you get up early, saw Michelle Obama give up his (very) temporary residence in a gold brocade dress with a yellow jacket and matching long silk scarf long - smiling and waving to the news crews to enter the church of St. John's in Washington DC with her husband - the 44th president of our country. It felt like all news channels became not a criticism of her outfit - What did you think match the color of the church - it was a "happy" color joy and hugged Mrs. Obama's life when it comes to fashion. That was classic, and still his. (Who can forget the number of comments about a whole bold black and red on election night?)
I, for one, love the recognition that the media is giving fashionable today. For those of us in the garment industry - from web designers, boutique owners, tailors and seamstresses and factory workers - Well, this is a really great day for us. We are the center stage throughout the day today - and we know it!
But the truth, we know that something everyone does not know. We are center stage every day - is not only for great occasions. (Well, not everyone has an inaugural ball to go, but we all have the one Once-a-life events - like weddings and graduations - where we have "perfect" dress that receives a million photographs.) Conversely, is the smallest times when we know that literally make or break people. It is the first appointment with the best looking man in the office. (And which is the dinner at which know their parents.) Is every day going to work. What does matter. Is that really matters. We are literally the thread that binds us all together, generation to generation.
Clothing is not just something to buy, use and throw away. Be sure to save the special pieces to make their daughters and nieces. Fashion has a way to get around a and again (you can say skinny jeans?). What is not everything becomes great material for plays and Halloween costumes (skirts and white leisure suits, anyone?). To women more than size, is also greatly honored to have some great fashion in the proper size, when young women are struggling in their lives - both and their financial identities. Even more than size women like Oprah Winfrey have shared that finding the right dress in size has led to tears in those special occasions, such as the Emmy.
You'll be the hero when you have more precious than the little black dress size for eve of New Year special someone - or a beautiful blouse size to accentuate a suit too big for that interview. As a plus size woman, we know how important that is dressed to impress and dress for success! Having special costume pieces to go down is very wonderful.
I have visions of Michelle Daughters Obama, a day in the distant future, some beautiful dresses unfolding treasured garment bag carefully wrapped in tissue paper, and tell their own daughters, "This is the dress your grandmother wore to meet the King of England, and this is what he wore when he met with the President of France. "Our clothing is much more than it seems, is part of our life story. So next time you have a great dress that you adore, take a picture of himself in it on occasion and then when you save the dress and wrap carefully in tissue, throw the picture on the box too. We are all, "the First Lady, but we are all part of a story very close to be treasured as part of our historical legacy.
