female fashion wear

What is this fashion? Is it significant or resemblent of some type of cult group?
Recently, on music videos and once at a sports bar I saw some of the younger people in early twenties..mnostly females wearing these black red skirt outfit/uniforms with a red cross on them..the first thing that came to my mind was neo-nazi's and this was disturbing because I am not affiliated or akin to this group in anyway...is this type of fashion related at all to skin-heads?
I think that fad is more viral marketing for a band than any type of cult or trend. There is a subset of women, usually late teens early twenties who base their clothing on what their favourite band wears. The symbolism means nothing, the origin of the symbolism means less, the only important thing is that band-x wore that and it's a way for all the band-x fans to identify each other. In six weeks they will likely have moved onto something else. I know that there are many people who just want to wear what was worn in music videos because of the number of question here in YA that go: "I wanna know where to buy that top worn in so-and-so's new video OMG! Where do i buy it it's adorable." and when negative symbols are pointed out they add "I don't care what it means I think it's cute where do I buy it is it at the mall?"
