Make a whole meal with recipes from my collection of old fashion Vintage Recipe

Feeling of nostalgia or simply want to enjoy an old fashion food? The Here are recipes to help you create a full meal, like Grandma used to make. All these recipes are from my collection of vintage recipes. Start with a pot of chicken, add baked orange-walnut sweet potatoes, iceberg lettuce and tomato salad with French Dressing Jar Mason, and enjoy an old favorite of Southern Indiana, pastel apple dessert.

This chicken stew recipe is from a magazine called the 1975 sewing. The sewing was a small magazine that was full coined recipes cooking, knitting and crochet instructions. More of a rural housewife waited anxiously for the postman to put your local monthly edition in your mailbox.

CHICKEN CASSEROLE

2 cups chopped cooked chicken

2 cups chopped celery

1 / 2 cup almonds

1 / 2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons minced onion

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup mayonnaise

1 / 2 teaspoon MSG, optional

1 / 2 cup grated cheese

1 cup chopped French fries

In greased pan 2 quarts, combine ingredients, cover with cheese mixture and chips. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes or until bubbly.

A recipe cornstarch ARGO people.

3 lbs. potatoes, peeled

1 / 2 cup chopped toasted walnuts

1 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons Argo corn starch

1 cup orange juice

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon of extract vanilla

Spray a quart 3 (13 x 9 inch) baking dish with cooking spray. Add sweet potatoes and nuts dish. Combine brown sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan. Gradually add orange juice, whisking to blend. Cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Reduce heat and simmer 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Pour over sweet potatoes. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes or until edges are browned and bubbly.

ICEBERG LETTUCE AND TOMATO SALAD WITH MASON JAR French Dressing

1 head lettuce, torn pieces of bite-sized

2 tomatoes, quartered

FRENCH MASON JAR DRESSING

1 can tomato soup

1 / 2 cup vinegar

1 / 2 cup oil

1 / 4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 / 2 teaspoon paprika

1 / 2 teaspoon pepper

1 / 2 teaspoon prepared mustard

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 / 2 teaspoon celery seed

Beat all ingredients and store in a covered jar in the refrigerator. Makes 3 / 4 liter.

APPLE PASTEL

This is another old family recipe of southern Indiana.

1 1 / 2 cup sugar

1 / 4 cup butter or oleo

1 egg

1 1 / 2 cups unsweetened applesauce

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 / 2 teaspoon cloves

2 cups flour

1 / 4 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup raisins

1 / 2 cup walnuts, optional

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients except raisins and nuts. Mix with electric mixer until well blended. Add raisins and nuts. Pour into a greased baking sheet 9 of 13 inches and bake in an oven at 375 degrees about 45 minutes or until done.
