Does Music Help Children?
Why Music is Important for Children?
This question has been debated throughout the long time it has existed. Even the great Greek and Roman philosophers approached the question, music is something that should be taught and it does help develop of children? Plato said "I would teach children music, physics and philosophy, but music is more important patterns of music and the arts are the keys to all learning. "And again," What is education to be? Perhaps he could not find a better that past experience has already discovered, that is, I think, in gymnastics, body, and the music for the mind. "
In all cultures world music plays an important role. While these functions may change depending on the culture it is impossible to separate music from the life of an individual. While some can argue the role of music in our lives is impossible to escape it. Even in the popular culture of Australia can not go shopping without listening to music. Music provides a means of communication and expression of culture and individual identity.
Children are immersed in music since birth and will be for your entire life. If this is the case why teach? Is not the constant immersion in the music enough? To this I say, is the fact that we are witnessing the results of the directors Scientists in the day to day in result of understanding of scientific principles? It is not true and so the music does not. Day by Day encounters we have with the music we can move, but the understanding of this music can help us grow as individuals.
In many cultures family plays the main role in musical education. Families are those who teach music to children of their culture. As young children, who often sing rhymes. They provide entertainment for the child and often repeated information in a small. Children learn through repetition and structure the information was delivered in. lullabies teach many fundamental lesson of life and therefore sets of music as a means to educate. The Children learn music from an early age and continue for the rest of their lives. In a world where globalization and consumerism dominate cultural identity is derived to a background, children are more likely to be pop songs sung lullaby of children's songs. The benefit of nursery rhymes and progressive learning has become a problem. Children are losing key learning opportunities.
The Mozart Effect, which won many followers in the 1990s said that listening to Mozart as a baby will make a child smarter. Although this movement was short lived and there is little evidence that work has not been clear Children who reach higher learning music in other aspects of their academic life. In children learn to make their music to express their identities, to gain confidence and develop a sense of time and space. A research team at the University of Munster in Germany found that students who study music have skills more developed abstract reasoning are closely related to education in the areas of science and mathematics.
I do not think there is any argument in this question ... music is a vital part of educating a child and must be taken seriously. Listening to music is not enough! A child must learn to think musically and that is what will help contribute to child development and academic development.
