Old Fashion Rea Lou banana cake and cream cheese Frosting
Do not throw overripe bananas! Use them to make this delicious pecan banana cake. This recipe is an old old church cookbook from Iowa, I think. I found this recipe in a recipe collection I bought on ebay. This banana cake reminds you Grandma going home, family reunions, church camp-ins, etc. Remember those tables filled with desserts? This cake may have been one of the tables. Bake one today and share with family and friends. Every bite is certain that the memories.
ARSE LOU BANANA CAKE
This recipe was found in an old church cookbook.
1 / 2 cup shortening
1 1 / 2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
1 / 4 teaspoon baking powder
3 / 4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 4 cup butter
4 ripe bananas
1 / 2 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs to mixture and blend until creamy. Mash bananas with a fork and add to creamed mixture. Add butter and mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Add chopped nuts. Grease and Lightly flour pan 13 x 9 x 2-inches in size. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Banana Cake Frosting
2 cups confectioners 'sugar'
2 tablespoons butter
6-oz cream cheese
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
In a bowl, beat butter and cream cheese. Add powdered sugar and mix. Add milk to dilute to the diffusion of coherence. Add vanilla and mix well. Frost cake.
