Winter Blues Got You Down? - Why a Jazzy Party Mardi Gras is right for you
It is February. The holidays are over, you're back to work , and the cold winter months seems never ending. Well, fear not my friend, fun-loving. Direct from New Orleans, a event that is added here that a bit of warmth and fun to your winter .... is the Mardi Gras!
Mardi Gras was taken first to the U.S. in late 1600 by French explorers. Each year the event begins with the feast of the Ephipany on 6 January, and the party goes all up until the official "Mardi Gras Day," which always falls on the day before Ash Wednesday (also known as Fat Tuesday.) Although known for its celebration in New Orleans, Mardi Gras is an event that is held around the world with carnivals, dances, parades, and of course, plenty of food. Many have dubbed "the largest party in the world" and with a reputation so is difficult to think of reasons why it should not join the fun. If you're like me and can not make the trip to New Orleans, do what I do and host your own carnival a party theme. Not sure if you're ready? Here are my three reasons why a party Mardi Gras is right for you:
Reason # 1: Colors - The key to any case colors of Mardi Gras are purple (symbolic of justice), green (symbol of the faith) and gold (symbol of power.) Not only are the bright colors and energetic, but they are also universal, making it easy to incorporate a theme of Mardi Gras on your next big event. Louisiana has one of the tastiest dishes out there, and there has never been a better reason to Whip up some jambalaya and share it with your friends. Last but no least, a carnival is a great excuse to bake a king cake, a pastry, ice cream that is cooked in the ring. A small sample is baked in the cake, and it finds the token is said to enjoy a year of good luck.
