Recently our team, Sealed with a Kiss Designs, had the pleasure of working with the incredible Fashion Stylist and Product, Reah Norman. Reah helped us in building our new style "how to" video tutorial for the highly anticipated Anastasia Wrap interchangeable. Reah specifically chose this project because of its specialty is in Plus Size Fashion Style. It has become the West Coast "go-to-girl" for all large-size women. Reah was fun and a great joy to have a job in the project spoke in his making a special interview with me so I could share with our readers / customers a little about her and her profession.

Reah So, to begin with I want to explain to our readers / customers is exactly what to do and how long you have been doing?

I am a photo stylist and I specialize in fashion design for large sizes, as well as product and property style. I am employed by magazines, clothing designers, advertising / public relations, and corporate divisions of retail stores to select the locker room appropriate accessories and fittings to be used in the photos, videos, TV, movies, live performances and fashion shows. I also work with models plus size costumes to select for portfolio development, test launches, and special events.

What made you decide to step in this profession?

Since I was young I had a good eye for style, photography and I've been attracted to the clothing and fabric. My first job was working at a dry cleaners, and then I went to work in Visual Merchandising. I studied photography, art and fashion throughout high school and college, and ultimately, I received my degree Merchandising and photography. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles and attended a graduate program in Visual Communication at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. I knew I wanted to be a stylist and I was sure that the study of these disciplines would allow me to sharpen the eye for detail and create my style as artist. I've worked on staff and freelance, with several companies, designers and industry professionals, and my work style has been featured in ad campaigns printed company catalogs, and advertisements in newspapers.

What do you think are some of the differences between the style of fashion and current fashion principal plus size?

Not many designers in the industry who are willing or interested in the fight against the largest market. The style of the models More is unique because their bodies are unique. Most straight-size models of size of 0-4, and given the nature of a body of that size, usually be able to wear most clothes. With the models, there is great care in selecting clothing that goes with the type and body size. In addition, size more women need to be more wary of trends and styles of your choice. There are specific tricks that designers use to achieve the ratio in the body of a woman over.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is comfortable, functional and modern. I like jeans, dresses, sweaters and accessories. I tend to buy basic products and then dressed up with fashion jewelry or scarves. I love scarves! On average day I will see in wide leg jeans, converse, "boyfriend" cardigan and, of course, a scarf. During the summer I like to wear dresses and sandals. I live in Los Angeles and my style is definitely a reflection of the "So Cal lifestyle.

As a large woman, what is your biggest obstacle in purchasing for yourself?

Personally, my biggest obstacle when shopping for me is that I can not find what you want to buy my size! As I am shopping, looking through magazines, and the tendency to see, I'm constantly looking forward to seeing more designs and styles made for more mainstream. It is frustrating to see styles and beautiful designs in Misses and junior sections of department stores, then go to the "more" section and the styles and designs simply can not compare. There is a great opportunity for the market, more and fashion styles and silhouettes are not represented, as should be.

What is your biggest obstacle when styling, plus size women?

With more experienced models, I think they are generally comfortable with their bodies and professional about trying different colors and styles, but when working with new models or women, but not models that can be difficult to achieve to "step outside the box." As individuals, we do not really see how others see us and a stylist try to offer a fresh perspective and how to educate my clients in styles and colors that are flattering to them.

As a stylist, how you feel about the availability of stylish fashion for women plus size?

I think the market is growing slowly but surely, and more companies are listening to their consumers, however, I am disappointed usually in the selection and availability of style, fashion forward plus size fashion that is out there today. Given that 50% of women at the age of 18 years of America abrasion and clothing companies, is an abundant market that were not met a. Moreover, women are considered "fashionable" are desperately waiting to have more options and often limited to making purchases online, instead of being able to walk into a store, try and buy. Hopefully companies will continue to listen to the fashion forward plus size consumers and create fashions that are easily accessible, affordable and portable.

What is the biggest mistake of fashion a large woman can make when choosing your wardrobe?

The biggest fashion mistake that a large woman can do using the wrong size! A common misconception is that wearing tight clothes will make you look smaller and loose-fitting clothing will hide their areas problematic. The truth is that wearing clothes that are too tight will only add attention to the area where the garment that clings to the area appear larger. For the Instead, wear clothes that are too large to add bulk to your silhouette. Always try wearing some different size, remembering that the number on the label does not matter, because the manufacturer is different size for each brand. Your clothes should always closely follow the contours of your figure and enhance your curves.

What is the number An item that you think that all large-size women should have in your closet?

The number one item that every large woman should have in your wardrobe is a flattering pair of jeans plus size. If you choose a good pair of jeans that is flattering to your shape and height, can be used for almost any occasion. In general, dark denim in boot cut, flare and wide leg styles are flattering to most body types.

What contribution would you like to bring to the fashion industry size?

I hope as a stylist who can contribute to the size, the fashion industry as an educator, model and mentor. Really connection to enjoy real women across the country and help them feel good about themselves by offering a new perspective on fashion and style. I found my niche with industry, more and hope to continue partnering with more companies involved, designers, and industry leaders to reach out to society and women media and display curves in a positive way, flattering.

Do you see the size of the fashion market increasingly recognizing the mainstream anytime in the near future? If so, how?

Yes, I clearly see the size of the fashion market increasingly in recognition of the mainstream more and more each day, although that is not happening as fast as we would like. There are larger, the current major retailers such as Forever 21, the release of more lines, and when other companies see their instant success, which is expected to follow suit. In addition, there next trend of television shows in the United States that focus on the size lifestyle, such as FOX dating show "More Than Love" and "Oxygen's Dance Your Ass Off." I believe that as these programs gain popularity, so will the supply and demand for fashion.

Lately there have been a number of high-fashion designers expand their sizes, to include plus size women. What are your thoughts about this?

Thank God, couture designer is expanding its lines to large-size women is usually the direction the market is headed. While consumers in addition to the designs and love continue to purchase these items, then designers will continue to serve large-size women and other designers will follow suit.

For our customers who are interested in a more size, what is your best advice for get them started in the right direction?

My advice to its clients, who are interested in pursuing a career as a stylist plus size, is to make your homework and know your market. With any career, you must have a thorough knowledge of your potential clients and what services they can offer to help you grow your business. The stylists are there to make their clients look their best, if that client is a model, a celebrity or a company. The best way to learn the tools the job is working as an assistant stylist or an intern, that lets you see all aspects of the business and gain their trust by working with a professional.
