Evolution of a dressmaker dummies Sample form for goods

Mannequins have been around for thousands of years, but its use in visualization the store is more recent. Kings and Queens who were concerned about their appearance, like the ancient pharaohs, would have a dress made to their body size. The manufacturer of garments or as the court uses the "dress form" to display and make the clothes thus avoiding any royal embarrassment during the course of adjustment.

The evolution of this ancient way of dressing of oil through the Middle Ages until just before the industrial revolution is not known written records, because there are so few examples of museum and not to study. Wicker mannequins doubt about the end of 1700 and probably filled with stuffing and leather. Wire-framed versions came into existence in 1835, but still not dummies used for the display of the tent. The invention of glass, the filament lamp and machine sewing were the catalysts that put mannequins in the store.

In the 1880s window panes began to be installed in retail outlets and lights street began to appear. The improvement of sewing machines enabled ready to wear clothes that are produced in large quantities. The industrial revolution has also created a new middle class with money to spend on what was previously only available to royalty, lords and landed - fashionable clothes! More stores open and the owners Store mannequins necessary to show the latest fashions.

These principles were dummies made of wax, wood or heavy fabric and because they had to stay vertical feet of iron. To give the form of papier-mâché and sawdust were used. Consequently, the result was an expensive and difficult to maintain order very heavy. However, such was the interest in fashion that by the turn of the century the mannequin was already the center of a fledgling industry called "crop window" which later became known as 'visual merchandising'.

The advent of the department store, with its large windows, behind which mannequins bearing the latest fashions can be admired by the crowds, encouraged window trimmers to be artistic, and practice. Mannequins slowly be a simple prop to show the goods to a more realistic way. Mannequins with glass eyes, real hair and facial expressions began to appear.

The First World War sent millions of European men to fight and left the women at home to do work of men. This change brought about a revolution in women's clothes, they throw their bras and crinolines and adopted a more fluid line of clothing. Mannequins gradually became more flexible and realistic to reflect these changes, but could never be confused with reality. It was not until the 1930s and Lester Gaba has become the realism everywhere.

Lester Gaba was soap sculptor in New York and was asked by a large department store if I could produce some mannequins in a more stable material with the same detail and quality could be obtained with soap. He created six astonishing specimens of gypsum is known as the 'Gaba Girls'. They were names and each of the parties in a prestigious hotel where they were dressed in fine clothes and jewels, from the society of New York high-loved! The socialite also loved Lester Gaba who had acquired the habit Eccentric go everywhere with a sitting mannequin called Cynthia. Cynthia, elbows on his knees with a cigarette in hand, traveled by taxi and appeared with Lester Gaba in a box at the opera, the Stork Club and many other famous places. The publicity was enormous and the shops could not get enough of the Gaba Girls or their imitators.

Depression and World War II led to shortages and the windows became rather somber with the mannequins of the day looking a little sad and worried. However, all changed when the war was over by late 1940 the mannequins looked happy and prosperous, some of them even had a radiant smile. Mannequins of man in particular, seemed relaxed and some even had holes drilled through his lips for the insertion of tubes!

In the 1950s it became in the new materials available and by the 1960s the true mass production of fiberglass and plastic mannequins became a reality. Advances in technology have continued so that artists can now manufacture dummy any design imaginable and are limited only by the limits of their creativity.
